He's one of those players who you often hear is undervalued, but somehow that doesn't lead to them having a better reputation. Though I get the impression that the narrative of a new generation of batting superstars, Root/Williamson/Smith/Kohli, rather sweeps a lot of great players prematurely from the top rank, like ABDV, Amla, Younis.

I think we're seeing a subcontinent team struggling to adapt to pitch conditions here. They've also lost a lot of batting practice to bad weather.

Pakistan's batsmen are always going to struggle in seaming conditions....

Espically on a damp, green wet NZ pitch where the toss can be annoying especially if you batting first and the pitch dies out, although the pitch is a belter later on though.

Good start for Pakistan, but with NZ level, they can start to do some damage. About time Watling produced one of his battling knocks.

de Grandhomme has had quite a debut

dont know alot about him but based on what he has shown so far it seems weird that he played a couple of limited overs games for NZ 4 years ago and is only now getting another chance

edit : and he gets out just after i post this

Thirty years old. Maybe been injured. Zimbabwe born, went to NZ ten years ago.

Best debut bowling from a Kiwi.

Astle goes. Kiwis could do with another fifty, but Southee generally plays an unproductive innings. Waggy might stick around.
