Changes expected in England team, Duckett and Zafar could be dropped.

India will change team only if someone gets injured playing football during nets or if Virat decides to go with 7+4 combo. Imo India will go unchanged with 6+5 combo.

Both Virat and Cook will look to win toss, whoever wins it will bat first.

Highly doubtful India will go with a 7+4 team especially with Ashwin batting well and Yadav looking a good batsman and bowler.
Yadav stat are surprising though since I assumed he was picked as a batting all rounder and not as a front line spinner.
only averages 28 in first class cricket and not many fifties and centuries but then again most batsman won't average that much in Lahli.
Impression I got was he was picked if india wanted 4 bowlers and then Yadav being the spinner and the extra batsman and pandya being the extra seam option and batsman.

reckon in the old mohali track Pandya would have played but hard to see Yadav getting dropped.

Can't think of many possible inclusion,
Sandeep Sharma the closest and he isn't really going to get picked in india.

They already have 2 all roundera in Ben and Moeen, is it not giving them enough balance that they cant accomodate a specialist spinner.

he might not be bowling well in the nets, should be noted Batty didn't look that great in Bangladesh and Ali out bowled him easily and Rashid looked more threatening than him and rashid was awful.
from the Test in bangladesh it was quite obvious Ansari bowled better.
if batty looks average England are in a very poor place since Rashid might struggle in the first innings and really needs a day 4-5 pitch or tail enders to take wickets or look threatening and Ali not been doing much either, he been very inconsistent with lines and lengths.

You do worry at the moment of how England will bowl in the first innings and with them having fragile batting line up with a long tail now doesn't look that great.

If broad comes in then either woakes will miss the game or Batty will miss out in Mumbai or chennai so in one of the games quite possible Rashid batting at 8 with 3 number 11 really if Woakes can't get in if Batty plays well and England be idiots if they drop Anderson so it becomes one of Broad and woakes.
TBH they probably hoping batty fails if he ever plays a test him doing well and india still winning will give massive headaches to the bowling attack and the lower order since none of the bowlers that can bat will be playing with only Rashid capable of batting.
Woakes, Ansari will miss out and if Woakes plays they be missing broad.

TBH looking ahead, Ben and Moeen playing as batsman so they haven't really got the balance sorted out they basically short of batsman and then might be short of spin options if Batty can't get into the team they basically end up with having too many bowlers in the team and some just playing so they can bat a bit and bowl a bit.
Wonder if later on it might be better if they just pick an extra batsman and drop Ansari and batty if they don't offer anything or even better call up leach.
they really need a left arm spinner in the first innings to help Rashid out.
if batty ever plays he got a crucial game since if he fails England struggling to pick a side they like or happy with.

Like I said last month and in the summer, Why does it look bad that england can only pick a squad of around 15-17 players and not have a very big squad.
Really england should have sent a big squad to india for one it is a massive long tour if you struggling to pick a team in test 1 image how hard it would be if the players failed and you needing to pick a team in the 4th or 5th test.
they really needing an extra batting option and extra spin option.
Thought India were smart in england.
they sent 3 extra seam bowlers than required to get experience in england, the management got more people to work with and pick a team out off and top of that the pace men get to bowl overs in helpful conditions and they hopefully get better.
from that tour it was Yadav, Shami, Ishant sharma, BK, Aaron, Ishwar Pandey and pankaj singh at least 2 or 3 pace men more than required.
They could have really sent Leach, rayner and spinners they liked to basically be net bowlers, I think it would be better for leach, Rayner bowling spin to Cook, Root, Stokes etc than some 12 yr old indian bowling spin.
I think the likes of Pandey, Singh and players missing out bowled loads of overs in the nets to the batsman, far better than facing some average kid from england.
England missed a trick here would have killed 2 stones they have more options in the squad and the spinners get more out of it.

series result wasn't the expected result india liked in england but thought the way they managed the bowlers was smart and was a good way to build bench strength in the pace department.
England could have easily used this to find a new spinners for the future.

Nasser does realise that England haven't got any lions games during the test right.
Ballance can't just go off and play lions and billings can't just come in because he played games for lions since lions haven't played anything yet and not sure billings played much cricket outside yet although he might have some nets in UAE by now but no one really knows what lions are doing there since the first game against UAE is in December.
Lions might not even be in UAE right now either.
how ECB thought it was smart to have no warm up games in india baffles me and then have no lions game during the same time either anywhere in asia or UAE during the test and the only time the lions actually do anything the winter is basically over with test close to finishing.

Rahul, Ajinkya and Saha are not scoring many runs. However Ashwin and Jayant have contributed with scores and somehow covered the weakness. Ashwin and Jayant were also good with the ball. Seems like all this will allow Virat to play 5 bowlers again.
