Fifth Test: India v England, 16-20 Dec (Chennai)

England are likely to make at least 1 change imo. Most likely change is that one pacer will make way for spinner or batsman.

Ajinkya will replace Karun if fully fit. Chennai is Ashwin's homeground.

As India have such a congested fixture list, maybe time to rest a few players with the series won. Starting with Kohli and Ashwin.

think they be rested from the odi.
No one will be rested from the Test team.

Which add to the ironic thing happening in Test cricket and odi in indian/English cricket.
England have been concentrating on White ball cricket and the test team looks weak and generally struggling.
india been concentrating on the Test and the white ball team struggling at the moment.
Read one funny tweet today saying india should play more test because they good at it now and not that many odi/T20 because the team not that good at it.

Quite funny that england looks a top odi team but average test team.
India looks a top test team but average at odi.

Athers basically said with the enmity unlikely india or England will treat the last test as a dead rubber with both sides desperate to win.
Also India got 5 consecutive series win last time they did that was during 2008-2010 when india were number 1 or playing like a number 1 team.

india likely to win 7 consecutive series and probably india unbeaten record considering they not really facing a test they should be losing till dec 2017.

Although india fixtures are in a flux next year with Pakistan not happening so BCCI need to fill a long gap in its schedule so a team will have to play in india but that likely to be WI to cover the cancelled games earlier.
So india could easily win 8-9 series in a row and be unbeaten over 30 games till they face SA, NZ, Eng,Aus away from home in the same season.

Actually quite laughable how many people don't know india schedule, complaining non stop about 18 months of home cricket but missing that India always play 18 months of consecutive games away from home.
Would love to see England play 2 yrs away from England and see how difficult that is.
india doesn't even get similar deck to home during that period, all very tough away trips back to back.
Also nice to see paul newman getting destroyed in twitter, not seen a worse bias journalist than him ever.

Another laughable aspect is the English media/commentators criticising Kohli captaincy when he hasn't even been that bad.
if anything he been managing the team/ setting good plans and fields.

in Ranking terms Ashwin is the 2nd best offspinners ever and 5th best spinner ever.
http://www.espncricinfo.com/ci-icc/cont ... 72332.html
Kohli moves to 2nd places and could be in first place soon if Smith fails and Kohli scores in the 5th test match.
Kohli got the opportunity next year to be number 1 in all formats as well.

looks like Chennai test is a sold out and the best area england fans like to sit in is also sold out.
with out the demonetisation issue wonder if Vizag, Rajkot would have gotten better crowd.
the NZ series was a success in the test crowd for the new stadium but the england series was more successful in the traditional stadiums.

As with Anderson. Difficult to criticise the opposing captain who is 3-0 up. Who was criticising?

quite a lot of people really not really sure why they been attacking kohli considering he been captaining well.
they basically got issues with little things more annoying when you considering Kohli doing it as a plan and isn't really been that bad in setting defensive fields.
Nasser been making the same point since Rajkot.

Don't get me wrong been times when his captaincy been odd although that mostly been in rajkot or a small period in Vizag but generally he hasn't been that bad made good bowling changes and been setting the rights fields at the right time.

What really been annoying is having a go at him for the in-out fields or the field back in mid on or off.
very annoying when you considering england haven't really scored runs or scored bucket of runs and it is quite clear the bowling plans/fielding plans work.

in this test they were having a go at him for not allowing his spinners to bowl more maidens but they missing the point that with the extra bounce it brings extra scoring options and it is quite hard bowling maidens.
actually quite hard setting fields in mumbai because with the bounce the batsman got more boundary options and can rotate strike easily.

not really sure Kohli deserves criticism for his field placing.

Edit not been all england either seen some indian fans complain as well but I really don't understand why.
do they honestly expect the spinners to bowl maidens after maidens or that all fielders stopping the singles.
yes the field was back on day 1 morning session.
but quite possible Ashwin, Jadeja, Yadav wanted the extra protection while they get into their grooves.
When they were bowling well after tea the fielders were up anyway.
it really sounds that the cool thing in cricketing world these days is to have all the fielders up and if any captain places any fielder back he is a poor captain and having a shocking time in the field.
