Just acclimatisation, but it feels like a proper match. A tour match, like they once were, rather than a warm-up.
England favorites now due to this Sam - Dawson partnership.
Looking at the India lineup for this match there are 3 first choice players (Shikhar, Dhoni, Hardik). Then the remaining are backup players for first choice or in actual India A players category.
But the home players are acclimatised and England are finding their legs. Not a bad batting display by England, given familiar frailties. But, it'll be a big step up in the ODIs.
Sam has played few T20 in IPL 2016 for Delhi Daredevils. He did good enough. Jason Roy also played in Bangladesh Premeire league in 2013. Jos played for Mumbai in last IPL as well and was good. So has Moeen in Bangladesh Premeire league for two seasons including 2013. Morgan has good IPL experience as well. Alex is also a part of Mumbai Indians since last year. So these new look English players have experience of subcontinental conditions more than the previous generation of English players.
No doubt England have played well. At least they did not get totally choked by spin attack . Remember Ian Chapel was frustrated when Kuldeep Yadav was not selected in Indian playing 11 just after Indian won U-19 cup. Yuzi too is not a run leaker. So there are positives from this competitive warm up match for England.
