Roston can bat two of those overs if they don't swap ends.

You can't make up this rubbish. Chase turned down a single trusting Gabriel to see out the last two balls. What does Gabriel do? Slog sweep the ball on to the stumps.

Gabriel should be dropped just for that shot alone. I know he's not a batsman but only an idiot would even think of doing something like that with the series on the line.

Cricinfo suggests as all ten fielders were around the bat, he tried to hit the ball where there were no fielders.

Why did he need to hit it anywhere at all? He didn't need a single. Just block it and then 1 over to go with Chase on strike.

I suppose rather than push into a ring of close fielders, loft the ball to safety. He must have had a plan of some sort, it wasn't the usual way of playing that situation.

I'd forgotten Chase was on the verge of being dropped from the team for his poor performance against Pakistan in the UAE. A rare show of patience paying off for West Indies.

MY SERIES RATINGS

WI

K.Brathwaite - 2 104 runs at 16, dire series for a player of his calibre
K.Powell - 4 161 runs at 26, again not great on his return, but at least got starts, and finding his way back into international cricket
S.Hetmyer - 3 96 runs at 16, dosen't look good enough
S.Hope - 4 149 runs at 24, only one half century, dissapointing
V.Singh - 1 63 runs at 10.5, would be suprised if he played another test
R.Chase - 9 Slowly becoming windies' most valuale player, had a fantastic series with bat and ball
S.Dowrich - 5 109 runs at 18... really only him and Ramdin around?
J.Holder - 8 Scored 182 runs at 30, and took wickets, while offering control...could bat at 7 IMO, and do a solid job, and getting in another bowler)
S.Gabriel - 9 15 wickets at 18..breakthrough series at last...would have given 10, but knocked point off for that horrific swipe that cost his side the series
A.Joseph - 8
D.Bishoo - 7

Pak

A.Ali - 7
A,Shehzad - 5 IMO not a test match batsman, defo not an test match opener
B.Azam - 4 two half centuries, but 3 ducks in 6 innings, not good, needs to be more consistent
Y.Khan - 4 One half century, but shame he had to have a poor series, in his last series
Misbah - 9 two scores of 99, what are Pak gonna do after this series, big hole in the side
A.Shafiq - 2 67 runs at 18, dire series, Pak really need him to step up now more than ever
Sarfraz - 7
M.Amir - 9
M.Abbas - 9
Yasir - 10 25 wickets at 21
S.Khan - 4 Too early for test cricket
S.Masood - 3
Wahab - 6
H.Ali - 7
