164-2 after 30 overs so a total of 330 should be what we are aiming for

these two need to put the foot down now

8 wickets in hand, morgan made a comment after game one that they left it too late to really push on so he should be aware of it today

It is a bit daft to have your best batsman in the side batting at 6. I've read quite a bit about the degree of analysis that goes on in T20 cricket looking at where players have the most impact in terms of the overs they come in at and how that shapes batting orders. Surely though, you have to have the best players batting for the longest, I thought we might have turned a corner when Buttler opened in a T20 in the UAE I think? Obviously not.

for once we do agree ;)

i might have been tempted to open with Buttler today with Hales and Root out

Morgan scored 43 at run a ball. Buttler is in - at five - with sixteen overs to bat. Team is over 200/3 despite a slow start.

Not sure there is much wrong with all this ? Whether they make it into a winning score is down to the acknowledged hitters ...and of course the bowlers who have so far underachieved.

Annoying to see two wickets given away to "innovative" shots : but you can't salute the unorthodox and clever when it comes off and complain when it goes wrong...

Buttler gone. Hasn't actually had a good series here.

Let us hope Stokes is on today...

Taking Jadeja for 62 today - and Ashwin going at six - seem good signs. Perhaps pace heavy England selection may yet pay off ?

Need more runs though.

Why do we keep picking Moeen in ODIs...?

Batting average of 26, bowling average of 46.

Wickets keep falling. Batting apparently not quite so easy today...

Will this continue when India bat ? They aren't going to be chasing 350 so England's bowlers really will need to pull their fingers out.

Does look as though pace is the answer today though so shouldn't be any complaints about the wrong team being picked. And since Bairstow essentially played the role Root has had no whinging about him missing the game. India have bowled well :clap

Good fifty for Stokes :clap

He gets a bit of criticism on here , especially in ODIs ; but he's clearly a much better player in this format now than his overall figures might suggest.

I don't think he's a ten over bowler though. Should be short bursts - and then let him go on if he's on a roll.

300 up in the forty ninth...

Excellent finishing here from Woakes ...and good come back from Bumrah with his last two balls.

311 with one to go . Looks competitive .

Another good innings from Stokes with the bat to go alongside his 62 in the first ODI. If we look back to the start of last year he's made 6 50s and a ton. Not a bad return. Just needs to become more consistant with the ball.
