Maybe he should just play tests and ODIs, give him some time to rest when the t20s are on

agreed, not like we dont have options to replace him in t20s, and t20s are imo by far the least important format at international level

yep the only time T20 matter in international level is the World cup in 2018 and really Root could play in that if he does well in the odi format and is in the best 11.

I don't think that matters too much either tbh

With regular scores of 320+ in 50 over cricket t20 is a pointless format at international level

I'd rather win the champions trophy than the t20 world cup
