I thought that startling piece of news deserved a post of it's own.
Wade captaining Maxwell in national duties as well as state - wonder if Wade will bat higher than Maxie?

I thought that Finch would be captain, once Smith was withdrawn, having captained the T20 side for some seasons, and had a few games (any series?) as cappy of the ODI side.

Strong bowling lineup, with the 3 big NSW quickies, who have all done ok-to-well in the Aus/Pak series, but the batting is looking a bit light-on with no Warner, Khawaja and now Smith. The swinging ball in NZ may well (may??) bring a few collapses. Hazelwood seems to growing into a bowler who can get swing when the other Aussie quicks can't. Will he be leading bowler for Aus this short series?

Presume Wee Davie is being rested then.

These grounds will look tiny to the Aussies.

Yep. That was announced well before Smiffy hurt himself. UKh too.

I have had this nagging dread for sometime now. It still hasn't come to a reality, but it probably will at some stage.

Captain Warner....

Yes, the ODIs and T20s in SL, after Smith went home tired.

I think that he was told he was tired.

Only if Australia wins

So this series has been wedged into the calender when it would be best if the players were heading over to India to practice.

Though maybe Lyon and Keefe are already in India? I seem to remember them going early to SL, so perhaps Aus will do the same again.

Anyway, i would not be surprised if NZ win easily. :o

asking alot of a team to play without both of its standout batsmen, interesting to see how the likes of Head and Handscomb will do when they dont have the luxury of Warner and Smith beside them
