Not sure how that is prove that money was taken out of the domestic game though.
Think he is mostly annoyed that his vision of Domestic cricket in Sri lanka is unlikely to happen.
He can't exactly say money not spent on cricket considering Sri lanka board pays wages, funds first class cricket, Women cricket, A tours, organises cricket tours etc.
Actually technically you can't blame the board if every cricket game their host or most years they basically losing money unless India or England visit of course they have to use money to replace all the expenses, especially when cricket is becoming more of a loss leader every year and money becoming tight year after year.

I think he making more of a political point on interference and how things work there than suggest money been taken out of the sport.

Fair enough. I've read other remarks but can't find them. Probably misinterpreted.

can't really see how Sri lanka could do more with these finances.
they really in no position to do anything at the moment and the school system is unlikely to change with the school and clubs holding big power in running the board.

Think you have although sri lanka players do get annoyed about the domestic system, I even make the point that they system isn't really good enough to make a strong test team when I am talking about the death of test cricket but do understand that sri lanka boards hands are tied in trying to fix it at one hand they can't really go against the school system and the famous cricket clubs in sri lanka and the other it doesn't have the money to actually fund the system.

links nicely to yesterday discussion.
Warning to Zimbabwe and possible inclusion for Afghanistan or ireland in the future.
http://www.espncricinfo.com/ci-icc/cont ... 83806.html
membership now last 5 yrs and needs to be renewed.
"In a plan that will open up the game to emergent nations such as Ireland and Afghanistan, while also placing pressure on struggling nations such as Zimbabwe and even West Indies, "
One of the main criteria, however, is likely to be some degree of financial transparency. The ICC will withhold funding from members unless they provide information on their finances, as well as how it is spent. The ICC will also retain the right to request members for an independent audits where applicable.
This is clearly on Zimbabwe considering they are not exactly transparent with the money and which is why so many ICC members are so annoyed at them.

I don't think the West Indies are worried about Zimbabwe, but a growing Afghanistan and Bangladesh could pose a threat.
:scared
The Afghans are reeling at 66-5 now.

They lead the series 2-1, so here's Zimbabwe's chance to tie up the series.

Zimbabwe's biggest problem is consistency. We're so dominant today with both bat and ball but have looked pony at points in this series.

We? Are you Zimbabwean? My cousin in Kent who was apparently named after me married a member of the mashona tribe. She hates mugabe but she hates Ian Smith more.
8-)
She gave birth to their first child last year.

I studied the history of southern Africa as one of my courses when I did my bachelor degree so the region has always fascinated me.
