Yes. If the opportunity was there, better to have had it then.

Shame there's no Leach. England going in with a pace heavy attack.

know absolutely nothing about that Helm guy who is in the side, only got a handful of first class games behind him, looks a strange pick in a lions side

These tours must be about trying to give some spinners a run out. Surely after India the ECB must make finding suitable spinners their top priority?

from his cricinfo profile he is a medium pacer, which makes his selection even stranger as if he was a spinner i would agree that it made sense to have a look

maybe he will be the new Ravi Bopara

Almost sounds like an insult........

Down to bat at six, but he's never scored a fc 50, so that may be a mistake. Sounds quick from his cricinfo write up. Still four quicks and a part time spinner (plus Rayner). Maybe it's a greentop.

Had a stress fracture of the back. Hope he didn't get that bowling at Ravi's pace.

supposedly Leach was left out because he is struggling to control his new action

Conspiracy! It's just the ECB going even further to justify their decision not to take him to India.

Saw a picture of Leach with a bend in his arm that looked like it was photoshopped by Andy Flower.

not sure the profile correct, considering the stories I heard was he was an out and out quick bowler but suffered from so many injuries.

wouldn't surprise me if it is a greentop or pace friendly pitch.
it is played in Pallekelle so it could be a seam friendly pitch since I remember the late Tony Greig wanted some of the newer stadiums in Sri lanka to be pace friendly and seam friendly and do remember pallekelle being quite helpful for the fast bowlers.

pallekelle meant to be a swinging paradise as well.

maybe they play more spinners in Dambulla although that is also quite helpful for the pace men but does help spinners more than pallekelle.

Pushpakamura for SL A has 500+ fc wickets at an average of under 20!

R.Jones knocks the tail over and two for Rayner. England lead by 149. Strong position.
