Seems like Smith and Warner had a quick workout today, they were told to carry their own luggages and kit out of the airport.

Going to be a very interesting barometer of whether the Australian side has progressed at all since the South Africa series. After that nadir, it was business as usual for the Australian home season against a deeply disappointing Pakistan (Azhar Ali notwithstanding), but Australia steamrolling subcontinent teams at home has been par for the course for 20 years. But after the drubbing in Sri Lanka, it will be interesting to see if the new look Australian batting line-up can perform any better against an Indian side who is stronger than Sri Lanka.

India demolished England after a promising start by the tourists, mainly due to the class of Virat Kohli and the complete failure of England to identify a decent spin option. Australia have a record of batting woes in the subcontinent and also lack a decent spinner (Lyon's better than Moeen, but still not exactly a world-beater), so I think everyone is expecting an India victory. The question is the manner of victory. Will Australia put up a good fight or be demolished? If they perform as badly as England did, will that be any sort of indicator for the Ashes? (Probably not).

Has Wade overcome his injury?

Australia have only taken one keeper. And Wade has not done enough to suggest his place is safe.

Also who is going to bat at 6? M Marsh has not done enough to get back into the team, but looks like he might well get selected due to his bowling. Maxwell also in with a big shout, though Smith did not give him any overs in NZ. Then there is S Marsh who plays spin well and should probably start considering the conditions. But he can not bowl and thus picking him to bat at 6 would mean a huge workload for the 4 bowlers picked. Maybe Aus will drop Khawaja for S Marsh?

And i guess we will never know why Australia picked Cartwright for the test in Sydney.

Kind seems like the Australian selectors don't really have much of a plan to me.

Felt sorry for Cartwright. Clearly not good enough for international cricket, and although he probably feels happy getting a baggy green, must be a horrible feeling to only ever play once and know you probably wont play agian..

I wonder why the selectors chose him? 2-0 up in a test series, about to tour India. And they give him one test and they have no long term plans for him. Not even selected for the tour after making your test debut the test before. :hmmm

Surely the sensible thing to have done would be to play the most likely number 6 in India.

But im not sure the Australian selectors have a plan.

guessing Australia wanna continue the tradition of india touring sides smashing the aussie bowlers all over the park.

Krejza was so banned he was unpick able till the last test match and Australia picked no spinners for a while, although Krejza was actually decent but india never allowed him to settle.

The series is likely to have the DRS system in place. http://www.abc.net.au/news/2017-02-17/india-set-to-allow-drs-for-australia-series/8278920?section=sport

I am suspicious of BCCI's reasons - do they think that this is a tactical option for them, that it is likely to work better for them against Australia?

DRS tends to help spinners when the ball is turning, prevents batsmen from playing with the pad rather than the bat. DRS is probably the most effective in India and the UAE.

is that (the Bangers game) the only series since England? I thought they had played someone else.

If so, I may be out of order on this. Still suspicious though....
