Shame about the game. Nice to see the players walking out, on the highlights, for the start of the home international summer. Sunshine would have completed the picture.

My early season enchantment lasted a minute.

England and Warwickshire.

Also tend to follow any former/current/prospective England players.

Root yet again getting to fifty but not converting. This is looking less of an anomaly now and more of a trend. Maybe 300-320 on here.

Morgs out, so England might need to put off their charge for five overs or so. The bowling all rounders in next.

Good stats for McCarthy and Murtagh.

23 off the last five is a good recovery for Ireland.

Lord Billings out now.

Here we go. Four down.

Who's winning the bowl-off?

Bowl-off winners: Ball and Plunkett. I'd have Willey and Plunkett. But I think Wood will play.

Maybe England's innate distrust of spinners will allow them to be persuaded by two one sided games v Ireland to leave out Mo and bowl Root in the CT. Accommodating another winner in the bowl-off.

if the boundaries are longer Spinners are good weapons in the middle overs.
spinners are more likely to get wickets as well in the middle overs in flatter decks.
not sure it is great idea to play 4 or 5 pace men with only rashid or Ali as a spin option.
england attack will feel too samey and will struggle to defend totals.

Bowl-off winners: Ball and Plunkett. I'd have Willey and Plunkett. But I think Wood will play.

Their reluctant to give Willey a full quota suggests that it will be Wood opening the bowling alongside Woakes, with Plunkett bowling the middle-overs (when the spinners aren't on). Ball is acquitting himself well but a lack of experience means he is likely the 15th man in the squad.
