I hate to say it, put its things like this that makes me wonder about the integrity of the game.

These are mistakes a international team should not be making. One mistake can be understood, but repeted mistakes after having Pakistan on the ropes. Its just ridiculous.

It's strange how fielding standards have actually dropped in the last 5 years. Ground fielding is pretty good but there are so many dropped catches these days (was 2 every game in the IPL).

bad result really, think sri lanka deserved to get into the semis more.
younger players, more potential and they will probably go forward.
Pakistan will most likely keep the dead weight senior players since they went to the semis, hope not since they really do need to look into the future.
playing the older players won't improve them.
hopefully the semis are close since if india or england play to 99% of ability they should win easily.
At the moment would say england got the easier semi.

It is strange. And such easy catches being dropped that even Sunday league teams would be annoyed. Half chances, fair enough, but repeated easy chances at the top level. It should just not happen.

Why is this?

?bats so the ball travels faster. Or differently off the wider edges
?fewer practice games so less in tune with local conditions

Most of the catches that are dropped aren't actually that difficult so ball speed can't be a problem. I know for IPL teams, it was a lack of practice as they spent so much time travelling around the country. Not sure what the excuses would be for teams in this tournament. Can't blame conditions either as Plunkett dropped two sitters on Saturday.

If the catch is behind the wicket then variations in bounce and carry (and in England, swing) have to be allowed for. In the IPL though, most fielders are local, so conditions shouldn't matter. SOmeone must have looked into it.

Possibly the bounce changes the angles the ball comes from or the likelihood of a top edged drive.

You'd think in general people would practice far more than in the days when they were out of the shower and into the bar.

hope not, but Pakistan have the knack of being utterly woeful for match after match and then suddenly producing a sublime performance from absolutely nowhere
