Feel this I should Pakistan's last chance for a tournament in a while.

Hafeez is 36, Malik 35 and Azhar is 32. They've had their chances and this tournament could be their last chance.

Whilst this fast bowling outfit looks good it doesn't touch the heady heights of the last decade of Pakistan fast bowlers.

Need to cash in now or go trophyless.

Been a tournament for chasing so far, and a lot more for the bowlers than recent years. Highest score 322, only four teams batting first have posted 300+, and twice that has been chased, and only 3 successfully defended totals (of 299, 310 and 319).

I think for the knockouts, any team that wins the toss will want to chase, especially in games involving India.

Must be one of the worst competitions for run outs. Running has been poor, sometimes comical.

Teams have been approaching the thirtieth over well set, then losing wickets.

England v India will be a good final.

It will. Fingers crossed we get it.

Has the middle-over bowling got better, or have teams been throwing it away? I tend to think a bit of the former. Rather than just allow part-timers or medium pacers to dobble through the middle overs, teams have been bringing in attacking options in the middle overs to try and halt the momentum. Rashid, Ashwin, Tahir etc. have had some successes here, and the quicks coming back have often bagged wickets too.

Maybe it comes back to the NZ/McCullum plan of attacking in overs 30-35 in the belief that if you've got wickets in hand after that, your opponent can't be stopped. Probably not (it matters less now there's no PP) but that plan was so imaginative and counter intuitive (putting slips in and the best bowlers on just before the second PP, when other teams would put their best bowlers on actually in the PP) that it deserves a legacy.

Teams are transferring the T20 plan of bowling spin in the slog overs (which takes nerve but often works, as Morgan did with Rashid v Australia). Not sure, but I wondered if teams were getting reverse swing, as they did in the last CT in UK (though rain may rule that out). Fast short pitched bowling seems to be working for Plunkett and Wood, who have done well.

So, a long winded way of saying I don't know. A lot of batters are just running themselves out, which is hard to account for.

Good use of DRS isn't a factor, as it's been used badly in most cases.

Dropped the ball, rolled on the ball. Picked it up off the ground, made screen motion to to the umpire.

ah

yeah that did look a bit dodgy but he didn't claim the catch and must have known the tv replays would show that he hadn't caught it

Making the screen sign suggests doubt, but he picked the ball off the floor. He can only have hoped this was obscured from the cameras.
