and imagine how stupid the tournament organisers would look because they hadn't the wit to pencil in any reserve days for a tournament held over a pretty short period of time....... in England!

Although, in fairness, it hardly ever rains in England.... almost never rains in fact, so the chances of a 2 week tournament descending into farce because of a period of bad weather must have been almost negligible.... bordering on inconceivable

All a cunning plan to eliminate Australia :)

They'll get back on long enough to finish this later , surely ? At least to get the 20 overs in ...wonder what sort of Duckworth-Lewis target England will face ?

Blimey go onto cricinfo and read Asian supporters slagging off the tournament being held in England.

Come on here and it's England supporters doing exactly the same.

Admittedly in a decent summer so far this tournament has coincided with a poor spell of weather but up to we've had some very good games helped by the conditions more than hindered.

they can afford to lose 75 minutes of play before they lose any overs

if it does come down to D/L we are screwed as losing 3 very early wickets will really penalise you on D/L

Australia should be in the semi's anyway

anything else would be a nonsense

they were in a pretty bad position against NZ when the rain intervened so its not all been negative for them

Yep they were in big trouble against NZ and could have easily lost so the two points they currently have is probably a fair reflection.

That is true. But if the rain were to wash this one away too and their hopes with it , then I think they'd have a right to feel aggrieved.

Having said that they still have work to do to overcome England here : despite the early wickets , the run rate is fine...and England do bat deep.

Hopefully there won't be too much more of this "intermittent " rain to spoil the game...

Aus desperately needing wickets to bring DL back into the equation

Interesting times with Zampa coming on , in the light of Rashid's success earlier...

Fine aggressive batting from these two ; got the score up ahead of the Duckworth-Lewis requirement before the twenty overs , though more wickets could cruel that. May be important as I hear there is more rain around later ?

atm England are ahead of DL, but if they lose a wicket they'll be behind it, so they can't afford to sit back

perhaps they can't afford to think that way at all?

the 6 helps things enormously

at the end of the 23rd over Eng need to be on 120

lose a wicket this over and it becomes 139

lose 2 wickets in this over and it jumps to 162
