its one of the quirks of major cricket tournaments, you end up playing the most important games on the worst wickets

With so many cricket grounds in England, you would think that the semi-finals could be played at a fresh venue. Or ensure that knockout venues play their group games in the early stages so pitches can recover.
I think this is a sign of things to come for the 2019 Cricket World Cup, especially when the format is a lengthy 10 team round robin.
