Dane van Niekerk has been one of the top bowlers of the tournament, still tops the wicket charts, but didn't take a wicket against England in either game.

that's because she has only been bringing herself on the bowl when there are a few bunnies to knock over. When her bowlers are being caned she is nowhere to be seen

excellent way of making sure your own figures look really good

I think that's a little unfair. She took top order wickets against India, Australia and Sri Lanka, and came on in each of those games when the opposition was just 1 or 2 down.

I can see it vs Pakistan and the West Indies though.

looks like a perfect final tomorrow for woman cricket.
the host vs the sleeping giant of women cricket.
one thing that is clear Harmanpreet kaur has putted women cricket mainstream now, definitely the world final feels big at the moment because of the knock and india shock progress to the final and the way the team played to get into the final, thrashed NZ, beat Aus and england as well.

got to say agree with my mate that went to see cricket for the first time in that the women game is quite high standard because most of it is skill based and isn't poor quality like other women sports.

apart from WI and pakistan all the teams generally played well, even Sri lanka had their moments.

hopefully bcci uses this tournament to spend further on the women game.
wonder if we will see a women ipl soon.

the kaur knock was also the greatest batting display I seen ever.
guessing that was how kapil dev knock was like against Zimbabwe, although kaur beats it hands down considering it was australia, semi final and india had no chance of winning without her and she basically won the game in a small period of time.

I have a feeling India are going to take this. Not sure why, other than that I think England will bottle it.

perhaps I'm applying the mentality of England's men

well it seems like most people want india to win.
even before the game the english captain said it was great that india was in the final and spoke about the possibilty of the women IPL and more funding for the indian women team and that was the opposition captain saying that.

saying that think england will win, reckon india hit their peak in the semis.
wonder if the indian women can handle the pressure of all these people watching the game and being the main cricket talking point in india.

India women stand to make a lot more money than the England women if they win. That ought to help concentrate their minds. If India win, I reckon all their players today will be millionaires by this time next year. if the England women win they will still be flying economy on the same plane that the England men are travelling first class in

they already made more money than the english women irrespective of the result, the team got a huge prize after the semis win, and very likely all the players will get a prize from the government and local association when they come back.
the players received 50 lakh.
which I believe is around 45 grand each.
England women only getting 34 K if they win the final.
so the indian women will be way richer irrespective of the result.

so yeah the indian team will be millionaires if they win the final.

Setting aside all the financial implications ...

Bright start by England. Beaumont has produced some very fine drives to anything over pitched. The good part for India is that their openers don't seem to have been troubled by the slope as that often spooks bowlers unfamiliar with Lord's.

Think the real battle will be once the spinners are introduced.

yeah in the opening game, the england team didn't play the indian spinners that well.

Less likely to panic as they won't be chasing today ? Agree the batting has sometimes looked to be collapsible - but they've always found someone to stand up .

Fast outfield today ; will need a decent sort of score ...

DRS might be important today : I have noted quite a few "debateable" lbw calls in the tournament - that one always looked to be going down ; good judgement from the England pair.

India have slowed it up a bit last few overs - good contest.
