Not Broad's job to bat for five sessions in this situation. But perhaps his responsibility to show a little care.

not just Broad tho, Bairstow, Ali and Stokes were all pretty tame dismissals

Can't really complain about poor batting in the second innings.
There wasn't a hope in hells chance they could bat two days, what's the point in spirited defeat, it's still a defeat.

Lose quickly and move on, I say. Sod Bairstow's poor shot selection and anything else for that matter.

Dawson 5 not out.

Should be enough to retain his place!

Official press line is he bruised his heel in game, though not said when, and that it isn't part of the injuries he sustained before. Sounds a lot like a good excuse for a crap pick.

One thing I didn't know is wood had surgery four times on his ankle. Could be an indication that his pace is lost on injuries.

Durham boys might save me a job, has he bowled well in county cricket last two years?

He's barely bowled in any form of cricket in the last 2 years which making him play in 2 back to back tests is hardly the ideal way to manage the rehabilitation of your shock bowler.
As I type he's just been dismissed for a golden duck to complete a disastrous match. Needs to be back to Durham asap for some tlc.

Olivier wraps it up!

A good all-round bowling effort....
:salute
Morkel was the only one to miss out in the second innings.
Nobody has a stance quite like the mighty Shivnarine....

Too much pressure on Cook and Root...the others all struggle to defend a ball, only intrested in boundaries! Back to basics for the top order!

my KP analogy from yesterday springs to mind listening to the discussion with Nasser and Pollock

saying this is the way we play, take it or leave it seems to be the team concept now

you can carry one or two individuals with that approach but not base the whole team strategy on it
