Yep. Cook nearly throws it away with that cut shot.

Root moves off 26 at last...

Not often you see him becalmed for that long. Ultimately he's done well to see off Morkel...good cricket all round.

Oh rats !

After all that Philander gets Root with an unplayable ball and a great reflex catch from de Kock :salute

Tough time for Malan to enter...

Oh, alfie....
:hug
Even a Philander who's not 100% is South Africa's most successful bowler this innings so far.

:)

I'm claiming it doesn't really count as a jinx as I only referred to his battle with Morkel ...

Philander loving these conditions...

Easily the best of the bowlers : no relaxing against him - though in fact all the bowling in the last hour has been pretty good.

Poor Malan had just got out there and now he's got to go off and start again later. On and off rain day , eh.

Good , battling innings...would be a sick looking scorecard without it !

No joy for Malan , though ...out to a ripper from Rabada :salute

Some excellent balls to take the wickets , today. At least a change from the bats throwing their wickets away ...

Need a partnership .

Rabada finally getting it together....has been economical, but not consistent, figures flattering him, but wicket should do him some good

Crucial innings for Stokes...we need him to show that he can do it, on a wicket and in conditios where is ball, swining and seaming, and where he cant just hit through the line..we need a big score from him here..

Agreed it was a good delivery from Rabada, but Malan played across it trying to work it legside and lost his shape - which is why he fell over. Against this bowling playing straight is surely the best option.

Not easy but that's why it's Test cricket.

Cooks innings stands out at present.

Seems a good score considering the conditions.
