I'm about to head to the airport for the 30-odd hour journey to visit home, so I'm going to miss most of the first two days. I hope not to be too disappointed when I land tomorrow and turn on TMS in the car :)

As an aside, I'll be at Edgbaston for day 1 of the first test against the West Indies. I thought I'd get myself a bit of history by attending the first D/N test in England. Are any other posters going?

Both Philander and Morris out -bet Jennings is relieved at that.

If Philander and Morris don't get you, Olivier will....

Jennings has clearly proved in this series that the search for Cook's opening partner continues. He's had 11 guys try since Strauss retired, and all have failed, unreal.

Hameed done ok. I thought he should have had a run in this series.

I was going to have him as the exception, but didn't he get injured, and can't now buy a run for Lancs.

There were a few bats that didn't definitively fail. Carbs and Robson at least.

Looks slow going.

Maharaj gets his first wicket...good to see a spinner playing the entire series in England, and feature regularly among the wickets.

Lancs have a CC game v Hants starting Sunday. If Hameed gets runs he'll be in for the W.Indies series.

You could say that many of the guys they've tried at opener haven't done horrendously badly, just none of them have really grabbed their opportunity with both hands, enough to cement their places anyway.

Fair chance Cook might retire before they do find anyone, and then England will have the weakest top three in test cricket!

Robson's done ok this year, but Gubbins takes the headlines at middlesex...im a huge fan of Hameed, but he needs runs, if he gets them then he will be straight back in
