It is a gimmick England doesn't need, but then again it did achieve the aim of a full house against West Indies, they didn't expect anyone to show up for this series.
So the fact it is a sell out is the only good news.
They more likely to get more fans in the uk if the tickets are cheaper not on the timings.

Raining this morning, then dry, so the late start avoids the bad weather.

Gimmick or no, test cricket needs to evolve to remain relevant. Work friendly hours are one way to get the punters through the door, or watching on TV. This one is obviously partly the novelty factor, but we'll see in a few years if it remains popular. The Australian D/N have sold pretty well, although this year will be an Ashes test, so any increase in interest should be taken with a pinch of salt.

I guess we'll see how the pink ball behaves.

Key is the weather though, I will never watch cricket on a cold night.
Doubt overseas players wanna play either in the uk on that weather.
Indian players hated day night games in September, ganguly didn't even want to watch them and he was commentating in the series.

England bat first, seems to be the correct thing to do by general consensus.

It's amazing how there can be so much uncertainty about how this ball is going to hold up when it's been used in a Test match!

Typical England start. The batting starts when Root comes in.

50-99 for Joe?

Totally used to these starts now, sod all for 3.

Cook will forever have a useless opening partner and two out of the rest of the top order will contribute jack.

Windies XI: K Brathwaite, K Powell, Kyle Hope, Shai Hope, R Chase, Blackwood, S Dowrich(w), J Holder(c), Roach, A Joseph, M Cummins

Gabriel probably still injured...I guess they're buying into the story that spinners won't excel in a day-night Test in England.

we'll see....so far a good start by Roach and Cummins.

Root really needs to move back up to three to stop us having two new batsmen next to each other in the order, to be fair to Stoneman he did get a good ball and didn't do much wrong.

69 added by Root and Cook, so start of a decent recovery. Next wicket brings in another rookie though.
