I reckon it only lasted one summer.

Another ostentatious failure for Roy, though he's always been consistently average in T20. It's in ODIs where he's been struggling- averages 12 in his last ten games, no 50s in nine. Averages seven in the last nine, if you really want to stick the boot in.

yeah he sadly proved me right that his spot wasn't guaranteed in the white ball team.

Maybe the narrative is flipping from him being a very good player who has been in poor form recently; to him being an average player who was in prime form before. Or is threatening to.

Bowling stats since the start of 2015, econ highlighted, suggests a second spinner would have been handy.

Dawson was in the squad.

Ever suspicious of England's reliance on pace, I notice there were five specialist pace bowlers in the squad (the four that played plus Ball) and only two spinners, one of whom was left out. This is a format where spin thrives.

roy is a good player, but he probably needs to give himself time to play him self in and also show how many players england have that could come into the white ball team.
like I said in april no player should really be guranteed a spot in the team with 30 odd odi game and 18 months career.
anything could really happen, could be found out, better players come through, or like you said he could just have had some good form earlier and was back to his normal ability.
not really sure why Rich was so aggressive with my point though.

on roy I find him very one dimensional, with the way he plays and his being told to play or encouraged to play he is most likely to fail or not get big scores all the time.
plus roy does tend to play a lot of high risk shots, which probably explains why he gets out for low scores more often compared to other players.
would still pick him in the squad though since there something in roy that could be a very good player for england.
if he finds ways to score runs without risky cricketing shots then he could be an asset to the team.

Stunning catch to snaffle Roy.

half way through the highlights now. Some of the deliveries from Jordan and Curran were absolutely shocking

I suppose it could be down to the conditions, if I'm to be charitable. It can't be easy bowling in the pouring rain

Too much on the leg side.

Fantastic batting from Hales.

how does Mark Nicholas know that it's a cold night in Durham... is he not at the ground? Must be watching it on his hotel room telly at the Royal County Marriott

England got strangled by pace off medium pace and spin, again.

Can't the oleaginous Mark Nicholas say that because he is in the county of Durham. I'm sure he's had someone carry him to the ground in time for the start.

he didn't say he was in Co. Durham, he said he was in Durham. Perhaps it doesn't matter north of Watford

Is it time to get rid of the can't bat, can't bowl David Willey?

although don't tell his dad that I said that.... I'd hate to have him knocking on my door in the morning, hoping to kick my teeth in
