although it might be better to try and use up as much of the daylight hours as possible and hope to skittle the Aussies under the lights.... with maybe a small lead for England. At least then the England batters will be maximising their time in the sunshine for the second dig

I reckon England did well to get to 280 (not that I saw any of it).

With Aus making a very cautious start, the last session will be a major one in this test.

84/3 after 49 overs, you call that entertainment?

Second rate cricket played slowly, who does that appeal to may I ask?

Not that that is any sort of consideration for the players - in all seriousness.

I reckon England made the best of the second session, so the running should be with them with this last session.

Say it as I see it.

Pushing second rate women's sport because it's PC to do so, not because it's entertainment on any level.

Notforme.

Why is my phone always set to hashtag mode?

exactly right. Disappointing not to make more of the night session. Aus will easily take a lead into the second innings.

pink ball, under lights, with the bowlers on top.... batters digging in and surviving until conditions change tomorrow morning. It almost never happens in the men's game, and the game is the poorer for its absence.

I'd rather have that than edges flying for six

TBH not really sure Test cricket is actually quite right for woman cricket.
50 overs and T20 cricket should be the main stuff for them unless they actually get some good pitches to play on Test cricket, far too many dot balls and teams struggling to rotate strikes.

saying that the friend I took to see England vs india and india vs pakistan woman game said she enjoyed watching the woman game because the skill of the female game was good and you were watching high quality sport unlike let say woman football or rugby or etc where the quality isn't the greatest compared to the mens game.
if anything that world cup showed how high quality the woman game is now that the woman game is like watching the men cricket from 5-10 yrs ago.
probably explained why in terms of woman sport Cricket is the most viewed sport in attendance or TV viewers.

if they play more Test cricket it might mean less tv games for woman cricket and then people not actually watching woman cricket anymore.
T20 and odi meant most or all woman game is televised and tv stations actually wanting to show it because it gets tv viewers and makes sense, if they play more test a risk all that goes away.
although playing more test might mean woman cricket goes to the next level, if anything the reason the test are lacking is that the woman teams hardly ever play test or first class games for the matter so they hardly know how to play it.

There's a tight contest developing here. England probably have their noses in front, given that they get to bowl last, but it's going to be close - one great innings or bowling spell today will clinch it for one side or the other.

For the sake of the series, it would be better if Australia don't win, as otherwise the T20s will be dead. It'd be great if England can win the test then the T20s will be all to play for.

Turning into a great day for Aus (so far).

I have the feeling that they are looking for Perry to get her double, and then declare, giving them an hour or so at England under the lights.

Certainly has been ...Perry has turned this game on its head. I thought England were well placed overnight but her innings has put the home team in an impregnable position and they are now able to try and pressure England on the last day.

Pitch obviously still flat so they really should be able to bat it out anyway . But when you can no longer win , pressure can do funny things...

Perry's innings has probably swung the Ashes. A win here, and we are home.
