Good partnership for the 5th wicket though. Ashwin getting Chandimal keeps India on course for the win just as SL were starting to see some light

Spinners will be disappointed not to win the match on a good batting deck on day 5.

Only 27 wickets taken in the Test.

Well done SL on the draw. Always good to see a team battle it out- here for over 100 overs.

Yeah I hope praise is given on the sri lanka team on the draw rather look at why india didn't win.
sri lanka played well in the series especially after the series in Sri lanka no one really wanted sri lanka to play here and many were asking what was the point of it.

Kohli also said he played cricket consistently for the last 46 months and that his body really wants the rest.

Yes, very well played by SL. Many other opponents would have lost to us at home in this scorecard situation at beginning of day 5. They deserved a draw cosidering they lost only 5 wickets for over 100 overs, most of which were bowled on day 5.

Yep well played SL. Way to bat out the match. I presume the batting did not get much harder as the match went on?

Batting 100 overs in the 4th innings to save the match is a very big achievement.

disappointing for Ind. the wicket was far too flat for a 5th day wicket but it shows the same weakness that has led Ind to change the ODI spinners - on flat wickets the finger spinners tend to struggle to have an impact. Jadeja and Ashwin are deadly on pitches with a little help. This raises some concerns for the away tours coming up - may need to bring in a wrist spinner if Ashwin and Jadeja struggle.

The dropped slip catches in the first innings off the seamers didn't help either. Ind need to sort out the positions. Rohit, Dhawan, Kohli and Jadeja don't seem great in the slips. Ashwin was good but doesn't seem to field there anymore - we should put him back in. Also, Pujara, Rahane and Vijay seem to be our best slippers from the batters. So I would set a consistent slip cordon of those 4 and stop messing about with it.

Credit to SL though - still not easy to bat all day for just 2 wickets

Red what is your view on Kuldeep, should he have picked for the 3rd spin option to SA.
lot of debate on twitter at the moment of whether he should be the first spinner in SA now, personally think that is ridiculous a very risky move and not sure india should risk a special talent by playing him overseas as a front line spinner without much test experience.

Im guessing dropping slip catches off the quicks can be excused of late. There has not been to much practice for them with the spinners taking most of the wickets.
