boy, did Aus need those wickets though?

It was starting to look a little worrying.

I can see Lyono running through the lower order.

Deserve it to be fair. Kept plugging away creating a few half chances here and there, it would have been easy to fold and start caving in runs on such a surface.

Another ball bowled so short it is called a wide ends up at Paine ankles... still waiting for this proper Gabba wicket everyone is telling is will come

Someone is going to need to bowl out of their skin for us not to concede a 150+ run lead

This innings won't last much longer

The 5th ball of that over, I swear that hit Broads back leg and was therefore lbw? The Aussies seemed to scramble like hed edge it, but it didnt occur to me it did, seemed to come off the leg

I think so. Their pace attack won't be feeling tired now.

Should still be runs for the tail though if they don't flash the blade irresponsibly and support JB.

Not scored a test hundred in near 20 games, Jonny. Maybe more relevant that he supports the tail.

Always hairy when you come in after a couple of quick wickets. But stay in for half an hour and the ball gets softer and it's a different game. There's a partnership still out there.

Dont think thats going to be a partnership involving Broad. Hes gone crouching tiger, hidden dragon.

What is that stance?

In some ways I feel that England deserve more than this. They've grafted hard for long periods, haven't thrown it away (except Malan there, after he'd scored 50), kept Australia out in the field for ages, but in the end, barring a miracle they are going to be 150 runs or so short of a good total.

This is par for the course for a visiting side at Brisbane, but I guess I got a little too optimistic after an hour or so this morning. I was having visions of 400-450. Now I'll be happy if we make 300.

For some perspective, this is longer than England batted in any of 10 attempts last time around. So at least there's that
