Not sure. Cook seems to operate in a bubble.

Fifty to Marsh, well done to him.

He batted past Pakistans score hoping to score a treble, refusing to declare, and England ended up 25 runs short of a victory. It sours the effort somewhat because he put himself and his personal milestone above the teams interest.

Did he though. England travelled to UAE without hope. Keeping Pakistan in the field for three days, responding to a 500+ score, I'll defend that knock in the context of the game, as well as it being a monumental effort.

I actually agree that he's been in long decline, his average kept buoyant on good tracks in helpful circumstances, but I can't knock that 263.

Smith chases a wide one there, no edge, but a momentary lapse in concentration

I guess that's why his test average is 36 or thereabouts.

The Aussies here no I am his least biggest fan going, but he'd been solid though. Then I am not sure what that was.....

He seemed to want to drive it through the covers, then checked himself, and ended up chipping it tamely to the field for some catching practice.

Maybe. But he didnt really follow through, so I think its just a batting error.

Broad finds a hint of swing away from Paine and gets a safe edge.... more of that Stuart, good bowling.

Good start for Ball..... half tracks it about 3 yards over Smith head for a wide

Third short ball takes the edge of Smith, falls short of the fielder..... very good ball

Swanny and Mitchell on....

Mitchell tells us that its very late in England. Insightful. Swanny opens with a terrible impression of Bill Woodfull....

Looking at the clock wonder if its now time to go bed

First XI all born in England since 2003.

Didn't realise Malan was born in England.
