Does look like questionable selection by India...

Not easy for them though in SA ; getting the team balance right. They are surely more comfortable when they can deploy the two spin options : although they certainly have more pace options these days it isn't their natural system.

However : if the pitch remains unhelpful to the bowlers , India won't be overwhelmed by a big SA total . Unlike some teams they aren't inclined to panic when chasing a large first innings target.

Aiden taking attack to Hardik. Tonked a lot of runs in this over. Well played 50.

Looks like Ashwin would need to bowl loads of overs in this deck and this will show everyone if he can bowl overseas or not.
from the bowling attack at the moment it seems ishant and Ashwin would have to bowl most of the overs and then hope Shami, Bumrah and pandya can bowl some decent spells as well.

At the moment the pitch looks a belter.
not much help for the fast men, oddly enough pretty sure bhuvi would be happy sitting out of this game, not sure any of the fast men will get much help in the first 3 days.

Good session won by Saffers. No wickets given. 78 runs scored. With tired Indian bowlers due to this pair tiring them out, and ABD and Quinton to follow , the run rate will be covered in half overs of strokeplay by them.

During the lunch time i think they will decide that one or both of these must look to convert this into a ton, now that they seen all the opposition bowlers.

From our perspective, we need both these out before they convert their starts into a ton in 2nd session itself. if one of them carries his bat into the third session then it will get more tougher for us. Now we have to pull this game back from Saffers.

Ash strikes, Vijay hangs on at silly point to one that was hit right into his body. :dance

Elgar out, but he has done a decent job imo. Makes it easy for the following batters.

Ashwin has put the stopper on the scoring. 5+ overs for 7 runs. Maybe that helped get the wicket.
I always say that everybody's right.

Good turn in this pitch. India should be happy with that.
