Pandya gets du Plessis for 62.

South Africa may regret not going in with the extra batsman Bavuma.

depends what par is on this deck, reckon around 300-350 is about par.
anything under 300 india would be please, although at this moment of time, india would probably like under 250.
should be an intresting game considering batting should get easier tomorrow, so india could be in a good position if they bat well.

Great start for India, but that four star SA attack must be a lingering worry, a premonition of India's own struggle.

Should be 250 after blowing the top off the SA batting and the hosts a batter light. Maybe the spinner will play a part against the lower order (a speciality for Ashwin).

TBH not sure india would worry too much, indian batsman generally play pace and bounce well.
it is generally swing and seam movement where they struggle.
agree with holding though if SA picked 4 pace men why did they bat first and not unleashed them first.
feel odd to make them bowl on when batting will be at its best.

Do South Africa think this is an ODI match or something

Pitch doesn't look a 170-5 pitch to me from the few overs iv seen

Pandya bowling a little full

TBH it isn't but SA had no choice to go attacking because of the great start bhuvi provided india, took 3 quick wicket in the first 30 mins when the ball was moving around.
once it died down it became easier to bat, but those 3 wicket allowed india to attack more and SA had to counter attack because they have a long tail.
it was basically AB, FAf and de kock and that is it.

Also South African batsman been panicking a lot with the little bit of movement Bhuvi getting.
great test match though quick runs, bowlers in the game and I reckon the deck will turn a bit as well.

You can tell SA are in a hole, QDK is only scoring at a SR of 123.

first over from Ashwin, great opportunity for him to make a name of him self if he can mop up the tail here.

good that Ashwin bowling here, think india need to bowl the spinners for two reason.
Reason 1, overrate needs improving big time.
reason 2 tight overs are needing the pace men are leaking too many runs at the moment.

extra reason would be a great day if he can take wickets and destroy people that wanted india to lose and Ashwin to get thrashed around in this tour.

dangerous time now is that the kookabura ball gone soft and old so much threat in the next 38 overs.
suspect the old ball will decide the series since I think both team will take wickets with the new ball but the team that can take wickets with the old ball will edge it.
actually don't think there is much between both team on paper really.
