for all the criticism of India preparation it should be noted teams just do not provide resources and facilities to the touring teams anymore so teams sometimes have no choice but not to play warm up games.

india had 3 other net bowlers sent to sa earlier but went home after Cape town test and they brought in another 2 bowlers for the johannesburg test.

King Kohli's 153 is the only hundred in the series for either side. India have only one other fifty than this knock, Pandya's 93.

Really has been hard for the batters.

Rohit, Vijay, Pujara, Rahul and Dhawan and both keepers all average under 20 for India. Also QDK for SA.

Have read that there will be rain on most of the 5 days of this test and it will be raining enough for us to draw this test.

Cricinfo is predicting these line ups. Though with a few queueing for the SA number seven shirt. And the India side looks like they haven't much of a clue. Or any clue.

1 Dean Elgar, 2 Aiden Markram, 3 Hashim Amla, 4 AB de Villiers, 5 Faf du Plessis (capt), 6 Quinton de Kock (wk), 7 Theunis de Bruyn/Andile Phehlukwayo/Keshav Maharaj, 8 Vernon Philander, 9 Kagiso Rabada, 10 Morne Morkel, 11 Lungi Ngidi

India (probable): 1 and 2 Two out of M Vijay, 2 Shikhar Dhawan and KL Rahul, 4 Virat Kohli (capt), 3, 5 and 6 three out of Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane, Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya, 7 Parthiv Patel/Dinesh Karthik (wk), 8 to 11 four out of R Ashwin, Hardik Pandya, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Ishant Sharma, Mohammed Shami, Umesh Yadav and Jasprit Bumrah

A green pitch is promised and rain expected.

Both spinners omitted. Phehlukwayo in for maharaj. Kumar in for ashwin. Rahane in for rohit.

India electing to bat sounds a bit risky.

I bet India have never fielded a five pace bowler attack before.

Think that probable team pretty much backs up Kohli point that if the journalist tells him the perfect team he would pick it lol.

At the moment india got too many options and no one really knows the best team, you will hardly find 2 or 3 people suggesting the same team.

Very risky choice from Kohli to bat first.

Kohli also extends his record of never picking the same team, it will probably be extended till the 2nd england test considering they expected to change team for afghan test and again for England first test.
