Aiden and Elgar have seen off the new ball. Some balls Elgar was beaten on the outer edge but that is okay for openers. There will the odd few balls that will beat the bat.

Saffer openers have done half their job well. If they take this partnership to 100 and one of these scores a ton then they will have done this job to expectations after winning the toss and opting to bat first.

Even Parthiv had to bend to collect the ball from Hardik.

37/0. Either the wicket is not what Virat expected or our bowlers are flopping to get bounce mostly. Will be more conclusive when Saffers bowl though.

All 4 pacers tried, no success thus far. We need 2 wickets soon.

You do realise this is a day 1 deck right AdI.
The deck will be good to bat on for the first 3 days.

India lost a huge toss considering centurion known to crack up and get very uneven bounce on day 4-5, first innings runs are massive at the same time the deck so good for batting on day 1.
No sure why Anyone would think wickets would fall easily here.

Sounds like a good toss for the home team to win ?

TBH bowling bouncer isn’t that great really you really want the balls ishant bowled earlier where it bounces higher from a good length that his the top part of the bat or the gloves those are the ones more likely to take wicket or trouble the batsman.
Bowling bouncers might look impressive with the bounce but it doesn’t take wickets though.

MassIve toss to win, although looks like turn for Ashwin.
Sa could score 500 and then bowl when the deck gets cracked up and faster pace.

Bumrah could have taken a wicket there, Vijay misjudged the catch there.

It has worked for SA, irrespective of the toss decision is correct or not.

The wicket is not what i've watched on our previous tours here. I think only one bouncer was collected by Parthiv jumping high. a lot been collected around waist, some near chest, some at knee levels. Some edges bouncing well before slips like on Indian wickets.

To not lose any wicket until all opposition pacers have bowled one spell each and to bat till 20th over, Saffers have won the better of this first session. There have been moments when batters have missed the edged, however it happens to all openers. What is important is being there at 20th over. 55 /0 is a credit to these openers imo. Well played. I hope our batters give a strong response like this pair when we come to bat.
