These 2 are making batting look so easy, im thinking this is going the same ways as 2 years ago against NZ.

900 plus runs for 14 wickets. Who would be a bowler on a pitch like this.

Smith has been getting all the plaudits, but M Marsh has 170 runs at a strike rate of nearly 80. His innings is the one giving Australia the chance to push for victory here.

170 runs out of a 270 run partnership

Malan does not look the worse bowler on show.

Took Root a long time to bowl him. Something different for England.

I think we also need to applaud all 100's today.

Broad, Woakes, Ali and Overton. Thank you :)))

I think when Lyon talks we should believe what he says. He rarely talks before a series, but when he does, be warned. We are looking to end players careers.

What were you saying yesterday about England being in a good position, Yuppie.

As I said trying to keep interest in this almost dead series alive.

English quicks, we haven't got any.

My lack of enthusiasm in this series is summed up by the fact I only remembered it was on five minutes ago. My default button on the TV for this time of the year is Winter Sports on Eurosport. Nice to see Lindsey Vonn back to her best!!

Highly impressive.

and Steve Smith being the junior partner in it - 120 at the most - is fairly surprising.

Wow, the Marsh brothers seem to have been transformed this series....
What's the plan?

Bat to tea tomorrow and then declare?

Try to put up 750, and then insert tired English legs?
Nobody has a stance quite like the mighty Shivnarine....

And they were at 4 - 250 today. With M Marsh coming in. Thats was the opening for them, with the new ball as well. 80 overs later and the game has gone for them.

In one innings M Marsh now has more runs than Root, Cook, Vince an Ali have in their 5 completed innings. 10 more runs he will have more than Stoneman.

If Smith manages to make another 30 runs in this innings then he will have made more runs here than any English batsmans combined aggregate from 5 innings.

At 250/4 I'd have given England a 1 in 10 chance of restricting Australia to under 400, but history, England's mental fragility, lack of quick bowlers, and hammerings in the last 2 tests, meant it was never likely to happen.

As I've said previously no team capitulates as badly as the England Cricket team, whether it is bowling or batting, it's partly talent but it's massively mental.

Only rain can prevent another 5-0.

Back to more relevant sport for this time of the year, Men's Biathlon is on!

I think at 4-250 with the new ball soon, England would have thought they were back in it. Even if they restricted Aus to 450 knowing that they would not have to bat last would have been a boost. But yep they let it go, the bowlers have looked toothless. The bits i watched, they just seemed to be going through the motions, whilst the Aussie bowlers kept charging in.

England's big guns have just not turned up, Overton has been the pick of the bowlers, and Malan and Bairstow the best batsman. Whilst Australia's big guns have been contributing.

Thankfully I missed the whole days play today, and won't be watching any highlights.

Watched a hour or so yesterday live for the first time this series, and thought the coverage from BT Sport was okay. Thankfully Pietersen wasn't on at the time, but I have to say, the female commentator was very decent.

Can't believe I just said that!
