Reports are coming in that the ICC are investigating spot fixing claims in relation to the Perth game :o

The circus continues.

Andrew Strauss goes home because his wife is diagnosed with cancer. Best wishes to both of them.

England win the toss and bat. Apparently the surface is expected to be a bit slow on day 1, but I guess we'll see.

Forecast suggests there could be quite a bit of rain about on days 4 and 5. So avoid defeat in 3 days, and England might escape with a draw. Let's look on the positive side :)

Good start by England by winning the toss.

Second time out to Starc's left arm pace in the series for Cook. Two to off spin.

Morkel got him a few times going round the wicket. And Mitch Johnson many times too.

Thanks chaps

what time does the humiliation start?

Depending on who wins the toss, 0231 (when Cook gets out) or 0430 (when Warner break's Gilly's record for fastest ton, and scores his second ton before lunch).

I'm claiming this one.

Excellent first hour though. Stoneman is England's leading run scorer in the series and has the best average. Wonder if that gets him further than it did Michael Carberry.

England's issue hasn't been so much getting starts as converting starts. On this sort of deck, pretty 30s and 40s just aren't going to cut it.

Case in point, Vince makes a pretty 25, looks good, then nicks outside off to Hazlewood (who else?). Just before lunch too.

Was looking like a good session for England, but Australia will be pretty happy to have two down having lost the toss on this wicket.

Sigh.

Still, two wickets before lunch on the first morning is about par.

Stokes got 93 off 47 balls in a T20 for Canterbury today. Against Otago too.

Not a great deal, as it turns out. If the catch wasn't dropped, it would have saved Stoneman a nasty blow to the grill of his helmet.

As the decision stands (overturned not out to out), I think Stoneman was very hard done by.

I have seen fairly conclusive reviews played and replayed over and over again. This was quite inconclusive, and was given OUT on the one (and a bit) plays. Not sure that he was out, and I am certain that it was overturned too hastily. Stoneman, and his team-mates, have every right to be p!ssed off about that.
