When asked about Crane, Root replied, "We want something different". So they pick a quickish right arm pace bowler, to add variety to the other three quickish right arm pace bowlers we have in the side.

The mind boggles.

What ever came of that Irish pie thrower who debuted for England during the last Boxing Day Ashes Test?

Plays for Ireland when he's fit. Quite a good limited overs bowler.

Boyd Rankin.

He was rubbish in the Ashes. I tend to think he was spooked by playing in front of such large crowds.

Apparently he was unfit when he played. That tour was a disaster.

He wasn't a Test player. Might have had more of a chance for England in ODIs.

Steve Smith averages 127 at the MCG! Bradman averages 128.

I think it fair enough to say that you can put Bradman's in past tense, but Smith may even improve to be "better than Bradman"?!?!

What will the media do then?

As someone with a brother Steve, who is often referred to as S, I could see that he may even become "The S"

Wee Davie doesn't have a good record on this ground... or in this series.

Thanks Arthur but I'm watching from home today...going tomorrow. Weather , like teams , as promised so should be a good day for cricket.

About time Australia won a toss I suppose. Winning them doesn't seem to have helped young Joe and his band yet. So maybe won't be any worse...

Let us play.

This feels like it could be a big test. 4-0 would really pile the pressure on the Eng team and management
