Nine down and Rabada with six. 72 lead is too few to defend even a choke from SA.

Aus fans will be keen to see no Rabada playing next test...

:lmao
That said, it would give Morkel a chance to say goodbye on the field.

Ngidi gets in on the act...Lyon out for five.

Maharaj gets the final wicket...South africa 239 all out.

Rabada 6-54.

Du Plessis and de Bruyn take South Africa home to a six-wicket win.

The series is now tied at one-all.

Rabada has been suspended again, this time for two Tests.

Mitch3 was fined.

Rabada also copped a further demerit point for his send off of Warner in the second innings. I assume that means he starts off with a balance of one?

they all hold for 2 years, so i think presently Rabada has 10 demerit points at present.

His defence was that he didn't realise that he'd shoulder bumped Smith... :facepalm

I think a lot of former players, bowlers especially, think that it's a bit harsh to sanction him, as the fire that makes him do these stupid things is also the fire that lets him bowl at 150kph plus and get out the normally immovable object that is Steve Smith, a man that England's array of fast-mediums struggled to dismiss.

But he does need to control it, and fast. There's no excuse, really.

Rabada does need to control himself, he's too good a talent to be wasting time sitting on the bench...SA need him on the field, as does test cricket to be honest..

SA appealing the ban...timing of the appeal hearing might see him allowed to play at Newlands while awaiting a decision... Seems to my suspicious eye to be a smart move to try and engineer just that result as I cannot see how Crowe's finding could actually be overturned : that way the home time might be able to cash in on Rabada's hot run of form and get a 2-1 lead...or is that too cynical a thought ?

I do agree he has been somewhat harshly treated for his over enthusiastic celebrations by comparison with some other fast bowlers of the past ; but this is the way the game is going and he really should have enough sense to rein it in a bit.

If he is missing I could see SA perhaps going with five bowlers - Morris and Morkel coming in ?
