Poor old Scotland. So close and yet so far.

Lot of whining abround about this but I think there was some naievity in the way they approached a run chase where rain was clearly on the cards.

Possibly, but still a great effort for Scotland against WI

The real problem is that the WC has been shrunk too much. Teams like these plus the likes of Kenya and Holland bring something different and we should find a way to have them at the WC without it becoming too drawn out - maybe 16 teams with 4 groups of 4 and the top 2 going through

Hmm, the reporters are saying a dodgy lbw for Richie Berrington cost Scotland the game.

It was an appalling decision but it's the ICC fault for not having DRS. Hope was given out lbw off a big inside edge in an earlier match. Was it against Afghanistan?

UAE posting a challenging score. Rameez shehzad hit 59. Zimbabwe have really pulled out the crowd for this match.
:salute
UAE 235-7 with Raza taking 3-41. He has had a cracking tournament!

UAE innings curtailed by rain two overs short. Zimbabwe chase 230 off 40. That won't be easy.

What a match! What a crowd!
:clap
Williams 80.

Naveed 3-40 won the match for the UAE.

UAE win by three runs!

Cat among the pigeons.

So Ireland v Afghanistan is a play off.

All coming right for the ICC at the end.

Who would have thought Afghanistan would have this chance after losing their first 3 matches? So close to not even making the Super 6.

Told you it wasn't a dead rubber AC :D

Shock result of the tournament. Every time Afghanistan seem destined to go out, they stay alive. Their qualification was highly improbable after losing their first three games, but everything has gone right since. One game to go...

One thing I don't understand is that Cricinfo says that in the event of a tie, both Afghanistan and Ireland nrr will drop to below Zimbabwe. How can that be? Surely a tie wouldn't affect your nrr by definition?

Because it's already below Z's NRR?

No, Ireland somehow have a better NRR than Z. Afg a worse.

Exactly, that's what I don't follow.

Rashid Khan &co did well to restrict Ireland to 209-7.

Can the inconsistent Afghanistan batsmen chase down this target?
