Considering England are resurgent in limited overs cricket, tomorrows suggested side on cricinfo looks distinctly unappetising.

1 Jason Roy, 2 Alex Hales, 3 Dawid Malan, 4 James Vince, 5 Jos Buttler (capt/wk), 6 Sam Billings, 7 David Willey, 8 Adil Rashid, 9 Liam Plunkett/Tom Curran, 10 Chris Jordan, 11 Mark Wood

A few of these still have names to make for themselves.

Admittedly, the captain and the Test players are missing.

Buttler's suggestion that soon T20 will be the only format played feels unlikely.

Australia have had only the one test player for the past three games - Warner, who has scored about 6 runs in three innings - and they have looked quite decent as a team.

Cricinfo side is correct, with Plunkett playing.

Westpac is tiny isn't it, so England might be ok chasing this.

Good start from Halestorm.

Not sure the policy of leaving out spinners because of the small boundaries actually works. Anything other than pace off is just a nudge away from the rope. At least you have to middle the ball to a spinner or slow medium.

That's not a given - yet.

If England win against NZ and so do Aus, it's down to RR?

Bigger than Eden Park, on a par with Headingley by first reaction.

Frustrating for England to losw when they measured the run chase well.

Kane Williamson was fortunate to have got that 72, aside from Wood missing a glaring run out there was a fumble through cover that got Kane his 1st boundary when under the cosh. Even afterwards he looked unconvincing and it wasnt until reaching 50 Kane played shots with panache.

Buttler was incredibly unlucky to be caught, it was six all the way until a gust of wind pushed the ball up and blew right. Santner did well to get under the ball when it deviated quite a few yards.

Dumb cricket in the last 3 overs, New Zealand nailed their yorkers then Plunkett decided to charge down the wicket with the last ball of the 18th over, when even a dot ball would have sent the required run rate from 12.6 to 14. Then Rashid taking a risky single in the last ball of the 19th over, maybe it was better to turn it down and get Willey on strike to knock off 25 runs on his own.

Willey batting at number 7, really.

A couple of innings have ever come off for Willey in his T20 career, the other 50 or so haven't.

I guess those two were batting at 1 or 2, which is probably his best position.

It was a good decision to bring Willey in when he came to bat as leg spin Sodhi and left arm spin of Santner still had an over remaining a piece. Being left handed, Willey was able to hit favourably against those type.of spinners and brought the required run rate back in check.

Fair point, and I get why they play him, hoping for him to play one of those rare County knocks, which I believe were when he opened.

His record down the order is pretty ordinary at County and International standard.

His bowling is also very predictable and easy to hit when the ball isn't swinging.

Whilst Billings, Willey, Plunkett, Wood and Rashid have all got useful runs in them, put together they aren't exactly the scariest or most potent lower order.

another defeat, I see. At least they didn't slide to a defeat with half a dozen overs left unused, which can often happen when chasing one of the bigger scores
