Some controversy surrounding the ball condition at Gros Islet. Have Dhananjaya and Chandimal brought out the sand paper??

If it's the case that SL are simply refusing to come out and play, there must suffer some form of penalty? Treating the fans like utter dirt. Shame as it's been a great series so far by all accounts.

Hardly any fans in the stands. Most are at home watching Argentina vs Iceland.

Sounds as if play was about to resume but Sri Lanka left the field again after discovering West Indies had been awarded 5 penalty runs.
Surely their actions ( or inactions!) mean they have forfeited the match?

Play finally resumes.

The drama will now be contested off the field.

Do the umpires have video evidence of tampering? That might make all the difference.

Hope gone. ...to Lakmal for 19.

West indies 154-3 at lunch.

Devon Smith 60 not out

Chase three not out

Wickets running out, but WI just edging ahead. Holder might stretch the lead a bit though.

Looks like the story is off the field.

SL charged with altering the condition of the ball (a nice euphemism). Wonder if they'll give this over to the lawyers like SA, or accept the charge? SL are saying they are innocent.

There was a two hour delay. That means the game should have been forfeited. Cricket is terrible at making up rules as it goes along. The umpires acted on seeing footage of wrongdoing, so there is film evidence, having previously expressed concerns. Cricinfo says this involved a substance being applied to the ball.

SL issued a statement saying they came out under protest to preserve the spirit of the game. Shame it was two hours late! SL will contest the allegation.

SL copped a similar charge last year which they didn't contest.

Story courtesy of cricinfo.

Holder out for 15. 26 ahead with two wickets in the bank.

Devon 61
Chase 41
Dowrich 55

These three gave the west indies the lead on a deteriorating pitch.

If there's video evidence then Sri Lanka don't have much of a case to argue.

Looks a bit precarious for the WI if the pitch is deteriorating Mike.

Maybe need 3-4 wickets before SL go into the lead.

Chandimal charged with manipulating the ball. Obviously SL were pretty pissed off yesterday, but if I was Powell or Brathwaite I'd be even angrier.

Rajitha the night watchman out to Gabriel for a duck!

Dhananjaya out to Gabriel for three.

Roach gets rid of udawatte for 19.
