It highlights the progress that Scotland has made over the last few years. A huge result against the number 1 team in the world.

Feels like it could a be a tough summer for England supporters. Though Australia is sending over a b team, so they should feel confident beating them at least.

Just when you think the ODI team are the only thing going for England, we concede best part of 400 runs to a pub side and lose. Am I right in thinking that none of these Scottish lads can even get into a second XI at a county? MacLoed was a flop at Durham wasnt he, couldnt buy a run, and seem to remember reading in the build up he averaged something like 13 against established test nations before yesterday.

Wood averages 78 in his last two test years, and now 60 in his last 10 ODI matches....... what does this guy have to do to be permanently dropped?

If England want to win the world cup then they need to look at this attack. Scoring runs for fun, but giving too many away

They have Woakes to return of course. Might be a way back for Topley. I think Wood's econ compares ok with the others and he bowls a lot at the end, so he should stay around.

England have spinners who take wickets in the middle overs but they are more expensive than slow bowlers normally are. Handy they take wickets though as that's what England lacked previously.

Wood averages a wicket a game since the last WC, which is pretty poor for a supposed speed merchant.

His econ in 3 out of 4 years as an international is 5.85, which lets face it, isnt good enough. He got a few Irish games last year in late April pitches or early May (cant remember when, but very early season) to knock his figures for that year into shape. The guy's speed only exists on paper. He doesnt give run saving spells nor really threaten with wickets. He shouldnt be there.

Yeah i must admit, i have been a big fan of Mark Wood, but recently he has been right off the boil...these injuries are obviously taking their toll, and it is very rare that he hits any sort of great pace now...think the selectors and coach get carried away with him, because he obviously has the ability to bowl serious heat, and they dont really have any rapid bowlers waiting to replace him..

Archer available in 2022 according to the rules drawn up when the ECB was consumed with anger over KP. Maybe they'll just rip up the regulations at the first sign of inconvenience.

Steady on. England clearly the underdogs!

The visitors will still be a team of sledging, unblinking, thousand yard staring Aussies. England will still be a side of dithering milquetoasts.

I think Wood was left out of the T20 side on the understanding that he was a fifty over bowler. I'm not sure his demise should have so little friction that he doesn't get a summer to show what he can do in ODIs. And the options aren't obvious.

2022 sounds a really futuristic, sci fi sort of year.

England will be fielding replicants well before then.

Surely there is someone in this Scotland team that can be fast tracked into the England team. Didn't that happen with Gavin Hamilton.
