Are there any frontline bowlers out there who can't bat who would get in the side in any case?

Not sure this 8 to 11 is the strongest England could field, but yes this is one of those occasions when batting strength in depth comes in handy. They might not make it, but it doesn't mean it's the wrong approach.

I get confused with all these Currans. I'm sure it was Tom who was in the side last year, who made some runs and picked up wickets. He looked really promising.

Now it's Sam Curran who doesn't look so effective, how has he come to the fore suddenly, and what's happened to Tom?

I think Sam is the better batsman and he is a left arm bowler so I think he was picked for those reasons.
