A sensible innings from Willey sees them home.

A win's a win, but hardly convincing, apart from a good spell from the England spin duo.

Don't know how the Australians keep producing so many good fast bowlers. Ok, this lot are no Starc/Cummins, but there's promise and talent there. England, for all their number 1 ranking, still don't know who their best three seamers are.

Good article here on why England, despite being a good team who will win a lot of games, may not cut it at a tournament. It comes down to that fast bowling issue:

Interesting points. Without mentioning how expensive the spinners are compared with other sides'. England score a lot of runs in the middle overs, but concede a lot.

Yet they take a lot of wickets. Rashid, Plunkett (a middle overs bowler) are expensive but are among the best wicket takers around. Woakes has one of the best SRs too though less expensive.

England mainly need to look at Wood and WIlley. Willey was put there as a left armer as one of those magic solutions to the ignominy of the last WC. Will they look for another left armer? Are they addicted to the habit of batting to ten?

Perhaps Stokes shouldn't bowl as much as he is very expensive, though again a handy wicket taker.

World bowlers by econ since the last WC against top nine sides.

If the best bowling side wins ODI competitions, then the Aussies had the best attack (backed by stats) in the CT. Starc/Haze/Cummins is the best pace attack around by a distance.

I can not see Australia winning a match in this series.

The only positive looking at that score card is that Maxwell might be returning to form,,,,,,,maybe.

Paine batting way to high and really should not be in the team, and Agar at 7? And Head should be batting further down. What a mess.

30 runs in last two overs (6th & 7th). All shots played in air were well placed in no fielder zone.

55/0 in 7 overs is a rocking start.
