Billings look out if his depth at international level.

Certainly not kicking on. It might be tough to make a mark when the opportunities come so sparingly, but many do break in that way. JB1 made himself undroppable and they had to leave Hales out.

England struggling at the end of this innings. Boundaries have dried up totally.

Looked an exciting game. Thought the Aussies were going to win at about eight overs out. Shut out by Rashid and the exceptional Plunkett.

Pretty solid all round performance from England, apart from Billings. The bowlers showed good discipline to close the game out.

Makes the Scotland game look like the aberration it probably was. But I think we all worry about England's uncanny ability to have an unusually bad game when the situation is a bit more critical - e.g. knockouts of a major tournament.

I don't know why Billings keeps getting selected, IMO he simply isn't good enough at this level, dont think he has ever scored runs at this level, and never looks like doing so, time to look somewhere else? Malan should get a go in white ball cricket IMO.

My impression is Morgan is missing a few games here and there with injury now.

Morgan / Stokes will replace him when they're back. Though you're right that there may be a case to include someone like Malan until then. From what I remember he's done well in T20is.

Indeed, Malan's record in T20Is is quite impressive (although he's only played five). His List A and domestic T20 record is also pretty solid. Perhaps surprising that he got a test but not ODI call-up, but that might just be because of the strength of the current ODI squad batting. Nonetheless, he may be worth a shot ahead of Billings for the next game.

I read that Woakes is now out of the series. Morgan will come in for Billings.

Should be cloudy at TB, but the pitches tend to be very flat in ODIs once the ball stops swinging.
