They probably spoke to the indian comms.
so far basically we had the indians comms say wickets not dry, lots of moisture and looks good for bowling.
English chaps + Holding saying it is dry, gonna spin at some stage and not much help for the bowlers and good for batting.

Never seen such variation on reading pitches in my life.

Think england picking one spinner gave doubts to the indian management as well.

I very much doubt they base selection on the make up of England's team or what Indian commentators have said

kohli said yesterday he wasn't sure on the team yet, think he said at the toss the team was decided this morning.
kohli even said he would have bowled first since he expected some help from the pitch for the seam bowlers and overcast conditions.
he certainly read the pitch that it would help the seam bowlers.

Great morning for England given commentators were saying it was a good toss to lose and it might be a bowl-first day.

I think Cook has some previous against Ashwin.

Cook out eight times each to Ashwin and Ishant and seven times to Jadeja. Next is four (Zaheer). But the spin is all in the last four years, so it has increasingly become a problem. This is Cook's record of dismissals v India since the start of 2012.

http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine ... er_summary

18 times to spin and seven to pace. And that's an opening bat.

Guess that session will be defined on how Jennings goes now. The more you see it, the more you think that is very catchable. He should have been gone.... Last time I can recall him being dropped, it was on 0 vs India.... he made a 100.

Maybe he becomes Tendulkar after a dropped catch.

Sharma beats the edge. Just needs to be patient, hes produced a few half chances.

Jennings does need to find more scoring methods though.
first time I seen him not give too many chances to the bowlers, probably says more about the pitch then anything.
Looks very flat at the moment with not much in it for the bowlers.

Turn and a bit of movement, but yeah, the pitch is sluggish which really takes away from what else its giving out.

with kohli in charge he generally likes the team to be patient with the ball and strike in the final session when the batsman are tiring and likewise when batting he likes the teams taking the game when the bowlers are tiring later on in the day.
one reason why he pushes his fitness agenda a lot.
been impressed with the bowling so far barring Umesh haven't seen much freebies from the bowling.
Umesh getting the ball to move a bit as well in this spell.
