Yeah, the last two days originally had the most rain predicted, so a result is going to be difficult unless India bat like they did yesterday again

Looks like getting out every other ball

Well you couldn't say anyone has looked particularly comfortable out there...

I do agree he's picked up a couple of bad habits from the ODIs. But he has been England's highest scorer in this series so far so I wouldn't say it's destroyed his batting yet.
Batting a couple of places higher has had some impact , I think.

That he's our highest scorer says more about our other batsmen than about bairstow

His play outside off stump is a horror show at times, seems determined to play any ball within reach

Given the circumstances, maybe Buttler's knock can be justified.

He's England' second highest run scorer this summer!

So far Pope's 28 is the highest score in the match.

Not a good stat.

No hundreds for England this summer. England have have one ton this year, in six Tests! JB1's 101 in the draw in Christchurch. He made a ton in Perth, making him the only England bat to score more than one ton since the last English summer. Cook and Malan having one apiece.

Only Root averages over 40 since last summer (41).

Is this the worst England batting ever?

Pitches might have a bit to do with those figures , Arthur. Similar for the opposition.

But obviously , the batting is light at present.

In times like this, bad performances are camouflaged by the failings of others. Why bother holding any one player up to account when he's no worse than the norm?

Even the sub-40 averages of the Athers/Hussain/Stewart era looked better than this.

Yes, England leading by 60+ with five wickets in the bank!

Woakes and Bairstow putting on the highest partnership of England's innings. No make that the match. 48.

In the context of the game, this is a handy contribution from JB1.

Looks very wet tomorrow. Electrical storms on Sunday night but dry on Monday. Just bat to the close, if possible?

Not the best 50 of his career by any means but looks to be getting back into better test form from about 25 onwards.

I'd like 10 overs at them tonight myself
