What a waste of 10 minutes, or however long it took. Bob Mills, speaking on Talksport earlier, suggested both captains should have called it a 'gimme' as there was no way England were going to hang on.

Vijay and Kuldeep yadav out of the squad.
P Shaw and Hanuma Vihari in.

looks like the Mumbai lobby helped Shaw get in, think Gill is a better player than him, although both are very good players in the making.
think Gill is more likely to be an all rounder player in all conditions.
suspect both players are getting in to get practice in England and with the dukes ball against quality bowlers in the nets.

203 runs win margin is very healthy for a touring team, especially for Asian team. So I am happy with team performance in this test.

Looking ahead I hope team will draw this series. The bowling attack as a group is best ever since past few months the for these conditions even with absence of Bhuvi. The only issue is will batsmen continue provide good totals or not.

Long rest between the next test. Should help us with more preparation time. Jas will probably hit 147kph frequently. Shami too is slightly down on pace. Hope he too might use the rest well and peak in next test.

Surely Kohli will break a habit and choose an unchanged side.

Clearly a catch and a bit disappointing Root showing dissent.

Catching up on the highlights.

Great catch by Cook on day one.

Dreadful shot by Stokes to get out on day 2.

Wondering about all the catches being dropped. Remember when it was suggested that A&B (and Swann) created a hostile environment in the dressing room when catches went down off them? Well, surely they have never had more spilled than in this series. I wonder if the reaction is the same.

Familiar batting woes remain.

I agree with sussex - given England's nature, it's certainly not out of the question for them to bounce back, and so India and England to take one more test each. Can't see there being a draw unless the weather gets involved.

i'm sure Cook is determined to go on until the next Ashes. The question is whether he can.

Agreed, I'd go with Gill. But they're looking at Shaw as an opener whereas Shubman is not probably more of a number 3. Good to see Vihari in as well.

Probably neither will actually play.

JB1 isn't being widely lamented for his likely absence at the Rose Bowl, even though he's England's top scorer in the series. He's not kept pace with his great 12 months, but he's still one of England's better bets, and will be a big loss.

England's two keepers are their top two run scorers in the series. It's all working out for Ed Smith.
