I see the new caps are Mumbai cricketers. It seems to help.

There are very few with the qualities to play abroad and that's why the decision to drop Dhawan is pleasing

yep think at the moment india probably got their best ever team in asian conditions.
sadly all the other asian countries are shite at the moment so they not really getting tested in asian conditions but the depth in batting, bowling and lower order batting is insane in asia,
jheez having Ashwin, Jadeja batting at 8-9 or is insane, essentially india can always have 5-6 bowlers with 3 or 4 spinners if they wanted to in asia and still have batting till 9 or 10 because of Ashwin and Jadeja.

at the moment because of the depth india could really rest 4 or 5 players and it wouldn't make a difference they could probably beat a lot of international teams with their 2nd or 3rd team in india at the moment.

Don't really get the critisim of ishant or bhuvi/ bumrah missing the series either isn't like some *modded* player replacing them, Umesh yadav the dude that was in the first team last year and won the test series against Australia last year and Shami 2 very good fast bowlers.

looking at it bumrah, ishant and bhuvi were unlikely to play anyway india hardly ever play 3 fast bowlers in india especially now with 2 all rounders in jadeja and ashwin they often go 3+2 or 3+3 with pandya.

the fast bowlers should get a rest after a long workload in england and prepare for australia far better than them just being net bowlers in india and barely doing much bowling in the test matches.

not sure they will go 3+2.

that is insane selection it would mean india basically playing with 10 men, considering I highly doubt Thakur will bowl much and he probably won't bat much either.

most likely will be kuldeep unless the rumers of BCCI preparing Aussie pitches means they are going pace heavy but if that is the case why rest Bhuvi and bumrah + Ishant.

Although think ishant might have a niggle so isn't being risked.

most likely it will 3 spinners and 2 seam bowlers, although it probably be a deck with bounce and bit of pace and probably flatter in nature.

TBH would prefer Mohammad siraj over Thakur if he is picked.

TBH them trying to produce a bouncier deck is a good idea, although looking at the team only pujara and shaw will probably benefit from it, all the rest of the batsman are quite good in bouncy decks, Rahul got the game for it and scored a good hundred in Sydney in his 2nd test match and he generally handled the short ball and bounce quite well in his career, scored quick 20-30 odd to get into the hundreds in the oval as well when Stokes and some other england bowler started bowling short to him.

Kohli got a very good record in Australia and rahane also did well last time around.

Shaw probably not faced those conditions before and not sure his game is suited to it yet although have to see how he copes with the bounce, with him being a mijit he probably might be ok with the bounce, generally short batsman are quite good with them.
Pujara is a worry though, he tends to get trouble with the higher bounce since his entire game plan and technique is made for the lower bounce of asia and he struggles to adjust to the higher bounce. not really seen anything yet from him that show he can handle the higher bounce either.
pujara could probably benefit playing on a deck with bounce and not getting easy scores in asia.
with pujara technique and his skill to spinners, he will easily average 70-80 in asia he probably the best batsman in the world in Asian conditons at the moment, but what makes him so great in asia his the reason why he struggles outside asia though and he hasn't often able to adapt like kohli has either or other batsman.
pujara could do with the practice since we need all the batsman firing in Australia and not left to kohli for all the runs.

Shaw approaching his hundred.

India leaving out Thakur. I hadn't thought about it at all, just got the wrong end of the stick- that this was in WI! So India expected to leave out the pace bowler at home.

India going at not lot less than 6 an over.

Just brings Kohli out though...

Maybe WI should appeal Pujara's dismissal through DRS.
