Australian batsman getting very lucky so far. Few gloves and edges not landing to fielders, a few close shouts, and most bizarrely Pakistan didnt review what looked to be an absolutely plumb Lbw, hawkeye confirming its a middle stump knockout.

Wicket looks to be coming, but Australia would have taken this start.

How Abbas hasnt got Khawaja yet, beyond me.

In his last two overs, hes had an edge that dropped short, and beat the batsman about 7 times...... these two must have eaten 4 leaf clovers for breakfast.

Will be interesting to see who Australia drop for Renshaw. One would expect Laudeshange, but he did get 2 wickets with his leg spin.

Well the morning session has gone much better than expected. Pakistan still massive favorites, but great fight from these 2.

Pakistan have produced chances, and especially after the drinks, the Aussies stock shot was the "done like a kipper, play and miss"..... not sure how no wicket has fallen yet. Still puzzled why that Head lbw wasnt (a) given by the onfield umpire (b) the captain ignores Yasir Shah's very certain answer of "hes stone cold, lets review it"....

7 wickets still to get. not watched much this morning. Few edges, but no carry.

5th day of the test, need a bit of luck. Wont last but its good to see a fight being made of the match.

I can't believe Australia have lasted this long, let alone with only three down.

Fair play to Khawaja. He's done well.

Pakistan will still be confident that one wicket will open the floodgates.

I'm not a fan of the 'well take out a player's good innings, and he's not very good' argument, but I think it applies here - when there's such a disparity between performance in one series and every other series he's played, and the one series massively boosts his average and (as test cricket goes) wasn't particularly difficult to score runs in, you have to ask the question. His overseas record, and his record against decent bowling attacks, is pretty crap, frankly.

If Handscomb was unique in your criticism, then you might have a point. But who else in this line up stands up to much of that barrage? The number 4 in this team averages under 30 in FC cricket. The newer guys have inferior FC records. You could make a solid point, other than Khawaja, that Handscomb is a better pick than anyone else in the squad. The fact the selectors didnt even take him on this tour, to me, is verging on catastrophic insanity.

Take away everything, all the stats... are you telling me Labuschange/Mitch/Shaun/Finch and Head are all in unison better players? I seriously doubt that.

I was a bit surprised he wasn't even in the squad.

Head goes straight after lunch, new ball does the trick in Hafeez hand as it just doesnt bite off the pitch as much, and he ends up playing on a different line. No doubts about that one

You know you have an inexperienced batting line up when your number 6 only has 4 first class tons. Still got 2 test wickets now so if he never plays again he wont be considered the worse 1 cap player.

Marnus Labuschagne just feels like an answer to a pub quiz question in the coming years.

Well played Khawaja, 4th innings hundred and a big test match for him

And if Australia was not already in trouble, 5 down now. 50 overs left. Needs something huge from the Captain here.

Sadly for him, Rob Quiney got a second game. Tbf, that ball is Yasir at his very best. He more often than not bowls way too flat, but when he pushes that straighter one in and gets the pace and flight right, it causes problems. And he's done him like he did Ballance a few years back.
