Woakes (excellent first 5 overs) s/r 33.3
Plunkett (good middle overs wickets) s/r 30.4
Stokes, undroppable (hardly bowls his 10 overs or takes wickets) s/r 39.9
Willey (improving left arm, even got a go bowling at the death recently) s/r 36.6
T Curran (specialist death bowler) s/r 28.0
Wood (hardly takes wickets but in for his perceived speed) s/r 51.2
Stone (early days but could be another Wood) s/r 96.0, less of the short balls
S Curran stand in for Willey s/r 18.0
Ball (who knows, do they see him as another Broad) s/r 45.0

My best Woakes S Curran Plunkett T Curran

Things are improving, and in good time for the WC. Even a year ago it felt like the batting had left the bowling behind. Now Plunkett and Woakes feel like must picks, and are first and second ever among England ODI bowlers for SR (min.50 wickets, v top nine sides). OK, I know ATG great English ODI bowlers, is a bit like picking great Saharan skiers.

I'd pick those two, plus Stokes, but not sure about the other (though they may play five seamers and one spinner at home). Today I'd pick TC who's having a great series, though that means no left armer.

Finn still feels like a big loss.

Sri Lanka off to a pretty handy start this time...65/0 from eight.

Moeen on now though : let's see how they go against the spinners...

Reasonable first over from Plunkett : but the hundred has come up in just 14 overs...Dickwella and Sadeera doing well.

Think England will be chasing a few today...

At least Buttler and Moeen might get a chance to bat...they've hardly faced a ball between them so far.

At 204/2 off 32 Sri Lanka might be looking at close to 400 ! Shouldn't think it will be that high ; but certainly going to be a fair old test for England's confident chasers...

no sign of SL easing off. Looking like a big score is on the cards. It'll give England the chance to chase down a good total, for a change.... just in case they've forgotten how.

at the very least England will have to go hard at the top, because the rain always seems to want to play too

IF SL can keep this up, then they could easily post something close to 400

Some way short of 400, so maybe the bowlers did ok at the end. It'll be a fine effort to chase these though. Good to see JB2 at four, where I like him.

Never seems to score runs there though.
