OK start for England with two wickets... and no rain still.

Very bad ball by Rashid. Can't bowl so short on leg. Aptly thrashed for 4.

Rashid not looking so good though...trying too hard ? Lot of loose stuff at the moment. Might see a bit of Stokes before lunch...

Stokes strikes! Dhananjaya out cheaply. Three down.

Sri Lanka 98-3 at lunch.

Dhananjay out on 21. SL 98/3 in 37.2 overs. Lunch taken.

Good line out side off stump by Ben. Rather than leaving it alone Dhananjay looks to drive for 4. Edges to Joe in slip.

Turned on this morning to find men back on the boundary, 3 down for under a 100, with a new bat at the crease (Mathews)..... very bizarre captaincy.

Doesnt look much in the deck, tbh.

You don't need much in the deck when Mendis throws it away like that....
:facepalm
Gone for 45 to Leach.

If I were his coach, I would be taking his bat, and putting it where the sun dont shine...... 4th innings mega score to chase, its just basic common sense not to play like that.

The temperament, shot selection is a huge concern for batsmen nowadays. Surely this was not a wicket where a 4 day match result is fair. Most likely result should have been draw. England batted under par in one innings. SL has been very poor in both innings in home conditions.

Leach gets Chandimal, and that must be the game now

There seems a trend in modern batsman to block a few balls then feel that they have bought credit for an aggressive shot. The amount of England batters that actually end with very low strike rates for an innings, but who are dismissed playing at the ball hard and aggressive, is quite sad to see.

I have a feeling Mark Richardson would bat for days in this era of cricket. Bowlers wouldnt know what to do against a batsman who didnt play strokes.

Presume England will go with the same balance of attack in the next game.

This'll be England's first win in Galle.

Just a chance England will win this tonight.

I suppose there's the issue of whether JB1 comes in for Kandy, and a possibility that Rashid will make way for a seamer or a batter. Maybe Bairstow replaces Rashid.

Rashid rolls down the wicket while trying to release the ball. Ishant Sharma used to fall on wicket like after releasing the ball though. Here Rashid rolled and got up with ball in his hands
