I can't understand why you wouldn't enforce the follow-on here. Bowlers have had a nice long rest. 150 overs left in the game, still around 350 ahead. Australia are going to have to bat for more than 100 of those overs to even get close to making you bat again. Even assuming they can somehow bat at 3.5 an over (which they haven't achieved at any point in this series) and make comfortably over 350 (which they haven't achieved at any point in this series), batting for 120 overs sets a target of 70 off 30 overs. India aren't going to lose in that situation.

Since the dropped catch on 264 the last batting pair has added 21 more runs.

Bad light continues and it's stumps. Very happy with how things have gone in this test so far. Got the team that i wanted, toss win as well, then massive first innings score and now bowlers ensuring the lead is there to be taken. The concern is whether there will be rain or not on Day 4 and Day 5. If we bowl them out in first session tomorrow morning or slightly after lunch and get a lead of 250, bat two session with Rishabh being promoted ahead of Ajinkya to attempt quick runs and let Aussies chase 450 - 500 on Day 5 it will be wonderful.

Very happy as we are likely to get a much higher lead than 250 which I expected.


Follow on should be given considering rain has cost us one session

The two spinners have bowled just 31 overs each. There is lot of bowling they can still do.

No real choice for Kohli...too much time lost - and might well be more. His bowlers must be weary but they can relax for a few days after tomorrow anyway.
Might not be easy to bowl Australia out a second time as the pitch still seems benign . But you'd think if they can get a couple of early scalps the fight might go out of the home team. Of course a few of these batsmen may be playing for their careers , so...
