Wagner back into attack to bowl 162nd over. New ball due after next over. Kiwis have themselves to blame. 4 dropped catches.

4 more to Sarfraz. Down the wicket and flicks it to mid wicket. Ajaz Patel couldn't deceive him in flight. PAK 405/4.

Good start by Kiwis so far. No edges, no LBW appeals. Boundary each for Jeet and Tom, hit with middle of the blade. 12/0.

Spin (Hafeez) into attack in 5th over. Openers need to see few more overs till stumps.

Odd innings from Pakistan, lot of overs batted for only 418 runs...could come back to bite them

1. Pak had lost first test.

2. Pak had collapsed in the chase. So the general view that those who are set should get a big score and so Harris did. 147 is a very good conversion after having started .

3. Other batsman like Babar could score faster because PAK were 174/4 which is a relatively much better platform than that of 25/2 when Harris took strike.

4. NZ bowlers bowled best in the first two sessions and other fa goes mentioned played out in slow run scoring.

5. Sarfraz had mentioned the lack of 100 as a concern. I haven't checked stats but it won't be surprising Pak batsmen are not having as many 100 runs knocks like other top teams.

6. Perhaps it was also a team tactic to ensure a certain total is reached before starting to play more freely and Haris perhaps just followed the dictate issued by team management.

7. In Dubai the later the opposition bats , the better for team batting first due to spin conducive wicket helping the spinners.

8. Kiwis are scoring at 2.67 whereas Pak scored at 2.5. The difference is of 29 runs across 167 overs if Pak had batted at sr of Kiwis. So it's negligible over 5 and half sessions.

If Kiwis draw the test after fielding for 167 overs by still batting long enough then the extra 29 runs would not have made a big difference. The kiwis deserve credit if they draw from here.
